Garden Route

This gorgeous driving route is also known as South Africa’s very own Eden. Following the N2 highway, it meanders through Mossel Bay,Knysna, Plettenberg Bay, St Francis as far as Port Elizabeth.
Along the way, you’ll encounter an astonishing range of topography, vegetation and wildlife. There’s also world-class accommodation and great restaurants all along the route. It’s ideal for families and offers some of the finest golfing in Africa.
The region is known for its beautiful, unspoilt beaches and forests that reach down to the water’s edge. Inland, you’ll find picturesque lagoons and lakes, backed by the mountains of the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma ranges that divide the Garden Route from the arid Karoo of the interior. The ancient, indigenous forests that line the coast from Wilderness to Knysna boast spectacular hiking trails, birdwatching (look out for the brilliant Knysna lourie), canoeing on the rivers, zip lining through the tree canopy … or simply relax with a bowl of oysters and a bottle of Champagne at a waterfront restaurant.
